So, like most of you, I am officially back to business now that the year-end holidays have finally come to a close.
I loaded up the wife and kids into the car to visit my parents in El Paso this year. It was the first time I’ve actually had a vacation where I was allowed to take 2 consecutive weeks at a time. Since we finally had the time I figured we could make the drive. I hate flying during the winter months. Weather delays. Turbulence. And when you throw in holiday travelers and kids — flying quickly becomes a hassle.
Nine hours later we finally made it from North Central Texas all the way to the western-most tip of Texas. The kids were pretty good on the drive. Toys, DVDs and PSPs to keep them busy. Gas stops with a visit to the candy aisle kept them happy — McDonalds for lunch. What else could a kid ask for?
Aside from the nine hour drive thru the barren landscape, it wasn’t too horrible a trek. We were pretty exhausted when we finally landed, but it was worth it. Well… IMHO.
